Kriel has raised R13 000 for the
endangered Brown
Hyena | January 03,
2006, 18:45
Albert Kriel, the founder of the Brown Hyena Survival
Trust who moved into a man-made cave with seven cheetahs
to raise awareness and funds for the brown hyena, today
returned to civilisation.
Visitors who came to
watch Kriel in the cave have raised R13 000 for the
trust.
The funds will be used to build breeding
camps at the Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve in an attempt
to save the brown hyena from extinction. Kriel appealed
to the public - especially farmers - not to shoot
hyenas, but to rather help protect the species.
Kriel now has to apply for the permits for the
breeding camps.
